Ringing In

We ring in 2011 the same way we rang in 2010:  at the home of our dear friends John and Susan in New London, New Hampshire.  New London is the home of Colby-Sawyer College, a lovely little yarn shop called Knit New London, the late great restaurant Peter Christian's, and, just down the road apiece, Mount Sunapee Ski Resort.  We spent our first two days here skiing at the resort, but we are taking today off and just relaxing in John and Susan's house.  The kids are Facebooking, reading, and working on crafts.  Susan just came in from the supermarket with provisions for our little New Year's celebration (ice cream and prosecco).  Sam is reading and going through mail.

I have spent most of the day knitting and doing knitting-related tasks, such as untangling a huge skein of sock yarn.  Susan knits too, and she is working on a beautiful baby blanket for her first grandchild, who is expected in April.  It is such a glorious luxury to spend a day doing anything, or nothing at all.

Happy New Year to everyone out there from everyone in here.  I'll be back in 2011 with more posts and plenty of fun pictures.
